Welcome to the School of Engineering Advising website. Academic Advising is done through the main office of the School of Engineering, ENGR Room 201 (Building #14 on the UAA map at: http://www.uaa.alaska.edu/map/ and located to the East of the Ice Rink/Sports Center).
Academic advising is done by engineering professors (Faculty Advisors) teaching the courses that students encounter throughout their experience at UAA. This connection between the student and the Faculty Advisors provides the foundation for personalized advising that brings many benefits to the student including all aspects of transitioning from high school to college, course planning, and assisting with career decision-making and job placement.
All required signatures and approvals are done by the Faculty Advisors such as Acceptance into Programs, Course Petitions, Application for Graduation, Course Adds, Grade Changes, Course Overloads, and many more. Student files and other information are also available at the main School of Engineering Office. Faculty Advising is available for all students at any level including high school or pre-college, college freshman through seniors, and graduate students. Thus, academic advising through the main office of the School of Engineering provides students a one-stop Faculty Advising Center for everything needed.
Official Faculty Advisors are assigned according to your last name. However, all faculty are available to students that need immediate advising. Your official Faculty Advisor can be identified from the following table.
In addition, School of Engineering Administrative Assistants are also located in the main Engineering office (ENGR Building Room 201) and are available to help provide information, documents, and other assistance. Students are encouraged to contact the Administrative Assistants to obtain information about their student files and to make an appointment with their official Faculty Advisor. The following table provides a list of the Administrative Assistants.

Peer Advising
Peer advising is done by other students and is also available. Peer advisors do not have signature authority for approvals needed for courses and forms (done by Faculty Advisors) but can provide useful experiences and information for students. The peer advisors are located at the ANSEP building (near the Bookstore shown on the above linked map).
The Peer Advising Center supports students with an interest in engineering, first-year, and second-year engineering students. Specifically for incoming freshman it assists in their transition from high school to the rigorous academic demands of the School of Engineering. The center fosters success by assisting in the development of their academic plans and career goals, as well as their personal decision making.
